Matthew's gospel starts out by listing the Jewish Genealogy of the birth of Christ, but don't worry, it gets way more interesting. Matthew was a Jewish tax collector and was despised by his fellow Jews because he not only worked for the Romans, but would often over-tax his own people for personal gain. Like all of us who know Jesus, once Christ got a hold of him his whole life changed.

A solid follower of Jesus, Matthew details the life of Christ as he walked among them. His eschatological work in chapter 24 still stands as one of the most interesting and misunderstood chapters in all the gospels. He leaves us with the "great commission" as given by Christ himself. Remember, the word commission is a co-mission we share with Jesus in making disciples and sharing the good news of salvation.
