Our vision and testimony
Jesus made it clear that Christians must be ready for His return
(Matthew 24:44). Equally clear was our calling to making disciples of all the nations (Matthew 28:18-20).
Matthew 24:44
"So you also must be R-E-A-D-Y because the son of man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
To be "R-E-A-D-Y" for His return is to be encompassed by the Scriptures, all of them. This is why we do verse-by-verse bible teachings. We R-E-A-D-Y ourselves by doing the following...
R. EAD THE SCRIPTURES
E. XPLAIN THE SCRIPTURES
A. PPLY THE SCRIPTURES
D. ISCUSS THE SCRIPTURES
Y. OUR RESPONSE TO THE SCRIPTURES
BY USING THE SIMPLE FORMAT ABOVE, WE HAVE CREATED A PLATFORM THAT USES THE VERY WORD OF GOD TO INFLUENCE OUR CULTURE.

Our Vision and Testimony
The Wash n' Word is a car washing business that was created to provide an outlet for income while the true reason for its existence is being acted out. The true reason for our existence is to teach, preach, explain and apply the Word of God in a verse-by-verse format. Not wanting to tax listeners of this type of Bible teaching with tithing or giving commitments, we established the car washing aspect to provide a self sufficient income to meet the business, ministry and personal financial needs.
The idea began as an answer to what appears to be a major lack of verse-by-verse Bible teaching/preaching in the churches nationwide. My wife and I started a verse-by-verse church in 2006 in Florida. Having come up in the church through Calvary Chapel, we were trained to adhere to the whole counsel of God by virtue of the Bible being taught in all of its fullness in a verse-by-verse format. This method spared neither the preacher nor the hearer of all God wanted to say. Pastors could not "cherry pick" sermon topics and congregants were not privy to select teachings only.
The whole counsel of God's Word is the only way to properly train and equip the church today for what is coming tomorrow.
In 2011, we followed the call of God to relocate to Knoxville, TN. Yes, we left sunny South Florida for East TN...and have loved every second of the this geographical wonderland God has created. After our move, I half-expected God to lead us to start a new church. At the very least, we would plug into a verse-by-verse church immediately.
What we found instead was a plethora of churches content with throwing out a few verses of scripture and building a topical sermon around it. What we found was one "sermon series" after another devoid of major Bible depth. What we found was whole congregations who were rarely challenged to open their Bibles, let alone study through them thoroughly.
We understood that none of these churches were doing anything "wrong". The pastors and the people loved Jesus and one another. There was nothing inherently wrong in these churches as a whole, meaning the doctrine was true, the sermons were biblical in nature and even inspiring. This is not a letter of indictment towards the church or towards pastors. This is just our observations while visiting literally dozens of churches.
Three years later my job moved us to Kingsport, TN and what we discovered in the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee was basically the same thing we found in Knoxville - a church on every corner content with the archaic style of church that has been handed down for generations. They were not evil, wrong, or bad, just not preaching the fullness of God's Word. Needless to say, there were no verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, book-by-book Bible teachings. None!
But, frustration, disappointment, depression and even anger was about give way to a vision that focused mainly on the verse-by-verse teaching of scripture. Thus, The Wash n' Word was birthed. If the 4 walls of the orthodox local church was going to abandon the fullness of the entire Word of God, then we will just have to get a bit unorthodox.
At the Wash n' Word, you will have access to daily verse-by-verse Bible teaching while you're getting your car washed. The 20 minute sermons transmit over a 150' radius of the Wash n' Word on 107.1 f.m. There is a new teaching everyday and audio messages are posted on this website.
We are not a 501c tax exempt organization (done purposely as to not hinder our preaching). Nor are we expecting handouts to support this ministry (also done purposely). If you wish to support us, then come by and let us work to earn our income by washing your car.
Our vision is serve God by serving others. We serve others by providing a great service at a fair price and by providing unashamed, unabashed, unadulterated verse by verse Bible preaching.
We look forward to serving you!
Sincerely,
Matthew and Vicki
